Transou Photography & Providence Sports Photo
I suppose Transou Photography actually began in 1973 while I was a junior high school yearbook photographer. My tools were 35mm and 120mm film cameras. Completely manual, even manual focus. We had a fully stocked darkroom and did our own black & white photo processing. Out of necessity I learned the fundamentals of photography; essentially managing light thru the symbiotic relationship between aperture and shutter speed. Taking sports shots of football and basketball was an exercise in readying myself for action at a specific spot on the field and waiting for the action to arrive at that spot. Capturing 20-30 shots a night and up to 10 of them being high quality was considered hugely successful! But even starting out, I had a knack for shooting sports; anticipating the action and capturing the shot at just the right instant and position. I was always thrilled when my football or basketball shots were worthy of being run in my hometown papers, the Elkin Tribune or Winston-Salem Journal. My passion for photography was strong in high school and I even considered that as a field of study for college. But with limited in-state photography education options and better career opportunities in technology, I instead pursued a mathematics degree at Wake Forest.
Fast forward 28 years to 2006. After recovering from a serious health issue, I decided to put some fun back in my life by re-energizing my photography passion. My eldest son and his very exciting Providence Lacrosse team was the first step. After 3 years, thousands of lacrosse images and a storybook state championship season, I took the next step and began covering all sports here at Providence. And thus in 2009, ProvidenceSportsPhoto was born.
Outside of Providence Sports, I've pursued event and real estate photography in recent years. At the beginning of 2017, I left my 37 year career in Information Technology and am now pursuing the retirement phase of my career. Currently doing substitute teaching at PHS on some days (my first career job in 1978 was a mathematics teacher in Winston-Salem), I'm also pursuing other photography interests and add-ons to my ProvidenceSportsPhoto services. Stay tuned for information about those to be found under the ABOUT OUR SERVICES menu at this site.
Today my business has two online venues. Below is some information about how the two sites are currently structured.
www.ProvidenceSportsPhoto.com (the site you are presently visiting)
Providence Sports Photo contains action images from all Panther sports since 2009. Also added over the years is Team & Individual Portraits, Providence Graduations, Music Concerts, Theater Productions, Senior Awards, National Honor Society inductions, and Prom. Services provided to Providence parents and students include image collection and bulk purchasing services, also called the Concierge Subscription Services. I also perform special projects upon request, like design and print collages, photo books, Family/Senior portraits and Event Shoots.
Added in late 2013, the Transou Photography site includes all my non-PHS ventures. Here I am pursuing Real Estate, Portrait, and Private Event/Sports shoots. If you are a Realtor or a Home Improvement Contractor, please visit this site and view my photographic samples.
Please feel free to visit Transou Photography as well as Providence Sports Photo at your convenience. To inquire about services for you or your business please call, text, or email at any time.
